Events jumble

Hello! i have a whole bunch of things that have happened lately that are not of enough note to blog about separately. So here they all are, in one giant mishmash of confusion.

On Friday David and i went to Aldi for the first time. It was awesome! i had $15 cash in my pocket from garage saling, and a couple of plastic bags in the van, so we went in hoping to find something for lunch. It was great! i 5 lbs. of ground beef (73/27 yikes!) for $9. (i drained it and washed it after it was cooked to get as much fat out as possible.) i also got hamburger buns and baked beans. All of that came to $11. i was shocked. i didn't buy any produce or anything, but it all looked pretty good there, so next time i go i'll bring more money and have a better idea of what to get. i wish that store were closer. It's about 8 miles away. The only reason i was out so far was for garage saling. So when i go, i'll stock up for sure. i'm really glad i finally went there. It's been a long time since we've had meat in the house, sad to say!

On Saturday night, David and i went to my parent's house and hung out with them. i was lying on the couch, and David had this Tetris hand held game. He loves it when i'm at his eye level, and he got excited and his arms started flailing and Wham! He botched me on the forehead with it. i still have a bruise right by my eyebrow, but the swelling has at least gone down.

On Sunday morning, i was getting ready for church. i started brushing my teeth, and was reading Kris' tube of hair glue stuff. Then my brush didn't taste right, and i realized i'd been looking at his hair stuff and used hair gel as toothpaste. Yuck! i felt so stupid. Anyway, i almost threw up, and couldn't actually brush my teeth that morning. i ate breakfast and chewed gum, so hopefully that took away my morning breath. i've been having enough trouble not throwing up while brushing my teeth, and then i went and did that... Oh well. That was really gross though. i would not recommend it anyone, especially mildly nauseous pregnant women.

Later that afternoon, Kris and i went to the Twins game, where they won! It was a sweep of Cleveland, and it was a very close game and went into ten innings. It was so much nicer not having David there. He was having a great time at his Grancy and Grumpa's playing outside.

Speaking of playing outside, it has been beautiful here lately. The sun's been shining, and yesterday it was up to 70 degrees. Granted, it was 40 this morning after rain last night, but still. David has been enjoying swinging and playing in the tiny rocks in the park at the end of our townhouse driveway. i've been enjoying wearing flipflops.

Today David and i went to Walmart and got an oil change while we shopped. It was so cheap! It was $20 regular price, instead of $20 before 7AM or whatever Jiffy Lube normally is. i also remembered my reusable shopping bags today, so on Earth Day i helped save 4 plastic bags from dying or something. Also, i bought David a bunch of food, and got a ton of frozen dinners and pizzas, probably enough to last all of us until my next paycheck at the end of the month. Getting paid monthly means we eat mostly frozen foods starting around the 20th. :) But i got all of it for $36, and that is REALLY good for me.

Have you noticed how expensive produce has been lately? Man. i've been really hungry for green apples, but at Walmart today they were $1.38. And since they were large apples, they basically were $1.38 each. Um, sorry. i'll have to eat some of David's apple sauce. And even when you buy fruits and things and pay out the butt for them, they just don't taste that good. i'm looking forward to summer with farmer's markets and when fruit is in season. i've been considering doing a CSA, paying a few hundred dollars and getting fruits and vegetables from local farmers all summer and fall. Have any of you done that? i've also been considering buying a side of a cow.

We're having construction on the little highway near our house. All traffic has been rerouted to a smaller street parallel to the construction, and there are signs everywhere that say "No trucks on 4th street". i was turning on to 4th street at this stop sign, and almost got hit by a semi that didn't come to a complete stop that was turning onto 4th as well, right in front of a sign that said "No trucks". i was mad! i was thinking, what is that truck doing almost hitting me on a street where it's not supposed to be anyway? And then i saw a police car, hiding out to catch speeders and the like. (i'm pretty sure Shakopee is making major coin from ticketing people during this construction time.) i was sure the cop was going to just sit there, but once both i and the truck passed him, he pulled out and turned on his lights and pulled the truck over! It was wonderful. i shouldn't feel happy that the truck person had to suffer, but, i do. That never happens: seeing a bad driver get pulled over. Eat it, big truck!

Ok. Kris' dad is taking us out to Chili's for lunch. Yum! Have a good day, ya'll!
